At the beginning of the 14th century, the Gothic order gradually began to loosen and around 1420 a new ideological trend began to assert itself in Italy, which was also reflected in architecture. The basic idea of this style was a return to antiquity. This idea was not entirely attractive for architecture because it was evident that some architectural elements were unknown to antiquity, so the Renaissance became an architectural compilation of antiquity and new ideas. This style began to work with space again and allowed prominent individuals to stand out. The peculiarity of this style is that it was the first style where private individuals were as significant investors as the church, who had a number of castles, palaces, pavilions, etc. built.

The fall of the Western Roman Empire caused the end of centralized power, real power was held by a number of kings and bishops who, however, did not have enough resources for truly exhibition and breakthrough buildings. Thus, architecture became the architecture of churches and in Western Europe, very few buildings have been preserved from this period. Architecture had a significantly greater importance in the Byzantine Empire, where a number of truly significant buildings were created that further developed Roman experiences
Performing calculations on site led to frequent over-dimensioning of buildings
Currently, there are a number of new requirements related to the usefulness of the building. Among such things, one can count on the requirement that the subsequent operation is as cheap as possible (low-energy buildings), and at the same time economic requirements for the price of the building. Another requirement of modern times is harmony with ecological principles.
Goals for most of history were realized by individual artistic styles, which were also reflected in architecture. These styles were dominant over a large area and developed for a relatively long time.
